Rules Changes for 2018 - 2019 School Year

See what the rules changes for next year will be.

Rules Changes

2018 – 2019 School Year

I.D. Cards

During the upcoming 2018-2019 school year we will make I.D. Cards mandatory as an added safety tool.  We will issue One I.D. Card, free of charge, at the beginning of the school year.  We will use I.D.s to assist us in identifying students that belong or, more importantly, do not belong on our campus.  All students must display a current school I.D. Card on a lanyard and around their neck at all times.  We will not allow students on campus without a displayed I.D. Card.  If a student is already on campus without an I.D. Card, the student must replace their original card, at their own expense, in order to remain on campus.  In addition, we will establish a greater emphasis on correctly worn and complete school uniforms as an additional safety tool.

The first four Uniform Violations will be warnings.  Demerits will start on the fifth Uniform Violation for the year.

We have removed black as an official color from any clothing item at Mater Lakes Academy.  Only shoes remain on the official school uniform policy as a black color item.

We have added Texas orange (or burnt orange) to the blue and white shirt color options for the middle school.

School pants and shorts are now required to have an official school logo.  We will not accept pants or shorts without this logo.

We will consider the first ten times a student is late to school, without a doctor’s note, as a Tardy Warning.  These warnings will not carry a demerit or negative Bear Point.  Demerits will start on the eleventh Tardy to School for the year.

Bear Points

Once a student has reached a total Bear Point balance of negative fifteen (-15) they will be added to the Benefits Revocation List where the student’s activities will be affected.  Once a student has reached a total Bear Point balance of negative fifty (-50) they will be added permanently to the Benefits Revocation List and have all their activities removed until after they reached an acceptable level.
